Fishing
The waters around Malcolm Island are great places to fish for salmon (chinook/spring, coho/silver, sockeye and pink), halibut, and other species during the summer months. Captain John has 40 years' experience guiding in Canadian waters, so no experience is necessary. We serve beginners as well as experienced fishermen, and all gear is provided.
You must arrive with a valid fishing license, available online from BC Fisheries, or obtainable at some area sporting goods stores.
When you fish with North Island Adventures, you get:

40+ years of guide experience
-
gear for all the types of fishing in this area
-
fishing for salmon, halibut, lingcod and other ground fish
-

Whale Watching
Our area is home to Northern Resident orcas and mammal-eating Bigg's (transient) orcas. The resident orcas typically begin to arrive in July and stay through September to feed on salmon runs. Most days there are orcas to see in Johnstone Strait, Blackfish Sound, and other locations in the area. The growing number of humpback whales in the Blackfish Sound area means that there are nearly always big whales to be seen as well.
The Strider is a great boat for whale watching and has a hydrophone and audio system that enables you to listen in on any calls being made by the orcas or humpbacks.
Combine fishing with whale watching on your charter to get the best of both worlds.
Maximum: 6 Adults or family group
